What to Bring for Embroidery

Your Design Idea: To prepare a design for embroidery, it must be digitized using Melco DesignShop software. This process must be done in person. The software is available for your use on the three labeled computers located in the back row of the lower bowl area of the MakerSpace. Several tutorials are available on Melco’s YouTube page for reference or ask a MakerSpace team member for help getting started.

Your Garments/Fabric: You must supply your own textile (apparel, fabric, cap, etc.) for embroidery projects. It is recommended to bring an extra in case the first attempt doesn’t go as planned. The MakerSpace is intended for prototyping and not production.

What to Know About Embroidery

Limitations: Manufacturing products for commercial use is prohibited. Limited color selection of embroidery thread is available. A team member must be present when using the embroidery machines. Additional policies can be found on the Policies page.

Quotas: 2 garments per person per week; up to two small (8″x8″) locations or up to one large location (12″x18″) or similar combination.

What to Bring for Sewing

Fabric: You must supply textiles (apparel, fabric, etc.) for sewing projects. It is recommended to bring extra material in case of any issues.

What to Know About Sewing

Tutorial Videos: It is recommend to view the tutorial videos prior to visiting.

Limitations: Manufacturing products for commercial use is prohibited. Limited color selection of sewing thread is available. Additional policies can be found on the Policies page.

Quotas: 1.5 hours per person per day.
